The Motorcycle

Philatelic writers had initially identified the motorcycle as an Indian Chief manufactured by the Hendee Manufacturing Company who in 1923 changed their name to the Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company. A Gary Griffith article in Scott’s Monthly provided the above illustrations and the fact that the motorcycle is actually based on a Harley-Davidson.
